‘Nation Together’ Operation: 981 Suspects Arrested in the Past 24 Hours
COLOMBO: The Police Media Division announces that 981 suspects were arrested in raids conducted on March 07, 2026, under the island-wide “Nation Together” (රටම එකට) national anti-drug operation implemented by the Sri Lanka Police.
This operation, executed under the instructions of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), aims to disrupt the drug supply chain and curb drug traffickers. Yesterday (07) alone, a total of 989 raids were carried out.
Quantities of Seized Drugs:
According to police reports, the following quantities of drugs have been seized:
Heroin: 403 grams and 287 milligrams.
Ice (ICE): 922 grams and 409 milligrams.
Cannabis (Ganja): 01 kilogram and 03 grams.
Cannabis Plants: 1189 grams and 203 milligrams.
Pills (Mal Pethi): 1086 grams and 90 milligrams.
Mawa and Madanamodaka: Over 04 kilograms.
Legal Action and Rehabilitation:
Among those arrested, illegal asset investigations have commenced against 11 suspects, and detention orders have been obtained for another 09 suspects. Furthermore, 13 individuals addicted to drugs have been referred for rehabilitation, stated Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and Lawyer, Frederic Wuttler.
Launched on October 30, 2025, the “Nation Together” operation is currently being implemented very successfully throughout the island.
