Sri Lanka Reintroduces National Fuel Pass: Updates on Registration and Special Quotas
COLOMBO (March 15, 2026) – The Government of Sri Lanka has officially reinstated the National Fuel Pass (QR) system for fuel distribution effective from 6:00 a.m. today. The decision follows disruptions in global supply routes and a surge in domestic demand.
Key Highlights for Motorists:
Existing Users: Individuals who previously obtained QR codes and have not changed their vehicle or mobile number can update/download their QR codes via fuelpass.gov.lk without any difficulty.
Changes in Details: For those who have changed their telephone number or vehicle ownership, as well as owners of newly purchased vehicles, authorities are currently identifying technical issues to facilitate a smooth registration process.
Essential Services: A special decision regarding fuel quotas for agricultural activities and essential services is expected to be finalized this evening (15th). Measures will be implemented within the day to address these specific requirements.
