“A Nation United”: 753 Suspects Arrested in Nationwide Drug Crackdown

 

BATTARAMULLA, SRI LANKA – As part of the ongoing “A Nation United” (Rataama Ekata) national operation, Sri Lanka Police have arrested 753 suspects during intensive raids conducted over a 24-hour period.

 

 

According to the daily report for March 13, 2026, released by the Police Media Division, the operation continues to target the disruption of drug supply chains and the reduction of drug demand across the island. The report was issued by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and Attorney-at-Law, Friedrich Wuttler, Director of the Police Media Division.

 

 

Raid Statistics and Seizures

A total of 1,015 raids were carried out during this period. The following quantities of narcotics were seized by authorities:

Cannabis (Ganja) 4kg 314g 005mg
Cannabis Plants 903 plants
Mawa 431g
Narcotic Pills 234 pills

Other substances, including Kush, Hashish, and Madanamodaka, were also confiscated during the operations.

 

 

Legal Actions and Rehabilitation

Beyond the immediate arrests, police have initiated deeper investigations into the infrastructure of the drug trade:

 

 

 

Illegal Assets Investigations: Launched against 04 suspects.

 

 

 

Detention Orders: Obtained for 15 suspects for further interrogation.

 

 

 

Rehabilitation: 09 individuals have been sent to rehabilitation centers.

 

 

About the Operation

The “A Nation United” national operation was launched on October 30, 2025, under the instructions of the Inspector General of Police (IGP). It employs a multi-pronged approach, including expanding operations, empowering communities against drugs, and implementing prevention programs to curb drug abuse within the country.
