“Ratama Ekata” National Operation: 1,073 Suspects Arrested in Past 24 Hours

The national operation “Ratama Ekata” (Country Together), which aims to completely eradicate the drug menace in Sri Lanka, resulted in the arrest of 1,073 suspects during raids conducted on March 06, 2026.

 

 

Launched on October 30, 2025, under the instructions of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), this initiative focuses on disrupting the drug supply chain, minimizing demand, expanding operations, and rehabilitating those addicted.

 

 

Summary of Seizures and Raids

During the 24-hour window, the following quantities of narcotics were seized by the police:

 

 

 

Heroin: 381g and 329mg (01 major raid)

 

 

 

Ice (Crystal Meth): 667g and 425mg

 

 

 

Cocaine: 500g (03 raids)

 

 

 

Cannabis (Ganja): 05kg and 192g

 

 

 

Cannabis Plants: 26,580 plants (246 raids)

 

 

 

Narcotic Pills: 342 pills (74 raids)

 

 

 

Other substances: Seizures were also recorded for Kush (31g), Hashish (118g), Madana Modaka (832g), and Mawa (628g).

 

 

Legal Actions and Rehabilitation

The police have initiated further legal proceedings following the 1,077 total raids conducted during this period:

 

 

 

Detention Orders: Obtained for 13 suspects.

 

 

 

Illegal Assets Investigations: Commenced for 10 suspects.

 

 

 

Rehabilitation: 14 individuals were referred for rehabilitation programs.

 

 

The operation continues to prioritize community empowerment and preventive programs to ensure a drug-free society.
